Victoria Beckham: Our Glamour Style Icon of the Week

I can’t even tell you how hard it was to narrow down the bajillion photos of Victoria Beckham and her prolific music/fashion/entrepreneurial career down to a measly 10 pics. I mean, from those memorable Spice Girl costumes (the white bikini top and skirt?!) to her red carpet risk-taking WAG-era (that’s “wives and girlfriends” of British footballers, kinda like our Basketball Wives) to her majorly sophisticated fashion power-player wardrobe—there’s so much to celebrate. But since the Glamour cover girl (and onetime guest editor) is our Style Icon of the Week (yay!), I had to try. Here goes:

Back in the day, Victoria Beckham was Posh Spice with her signature black minidress from Topshop (although everyone thought it was Gucci) and blunt bob. Here they are in 1998 on top of a British-ish double-decker bus at the U.S. premiere of Spice World. Oh, hey, is that a smile we see on her face?

Now, I may be just as obsessed with Victoria’s handsome, fashion-loving, soccer star husband, David. (Can you blame me?) They may have later regretted this matchy-matchy leather outfit moment from 1999, but it’s hands-down one of my favorites. How cute ARE they? Fun fact: They were married that same year at an over-the-top ceremony on their former estate known as Beckingham Palace.

Well, the Spice Girls temporarily went on hiatus in 2000 and Victoria spent a couple years going solo. The girls reunited for a successful world tour in 2007, but by then Posh was making a name for herself in the fashion realm. Like a true pop star, Victoria knows how to make a bombshell fashion statement—like in this leg-baring Roberto Cavalli bodysuit outfit at the U.K. Glamour Awards (where she won Woman and Entrepreneur of the Year) that year. British women really do love their nude hosiery, huh?

In 2008, the former Posh Spice launched her Victoria Beckham line of sophisticated, glamorous dresses, which was fast embraced by the industry. Here she is accompanying Marc Jacobs to the CFDA Awards (a.k.a. the Fashion Oscars).

Like her hubs David, Victoria loves to experiment with her hairstyles. Her angled bob (which Beyoncé is sporting these days) from 2008 is one of my favorites. This shot of Victoria and son Cruz on a toy-shopping run also demonstrates why VB is one of the most fashionable moms in Hollywood, if not, the UNIVERSE.

Red carpet style stars love them some Victoria Beckham (the label), although the designer is probably the best spokesmodel of the brand. Like in this gorgeous one-shouldered gown she wore to the 2010 Vanity Fair Oscar party.

In 2011, the world rejoiced. No, I’m not talking about the royal wedding, which Posh—in a Victoria Beckham navy dress and custom Louboutin platorms—and Becks attended. The happy couple are having a fourth child and it’s a GIRL! Not that their three adorable and fashion-loving sons aren’t amazing, of course.

And another example why Victoria should just always wear her own designs. This collared day dress with a semi-detached sleeve is just hot. Especially on her.

The Spice Girls’ spectacular performance at the 2012 Summer Olympics closing ceremony just rocked my world. They’re singing on top of moving vehicles! Who are they all wearing?! And they all look really good!!! Posh reinterpreted her signature LBD with a dramatically sexy high-low gown by Giles Deacon. A lot has happened since that ’98 bus pic, huh?

And there she is: little Harper Beckham. She has the cutest baby clothes (and accessories), plus first dibs on Mom’s designer hand-me-downs. Is it OK to be jealous of a child?
