Eco-culture in Amsterdam: the Fletcher Hotel

The Fletcher Hotel in Amsterdam is the flagship of Eco-Hotels. Built solely of natural, ecologic and biodegradable materials, it’s the perfect match of sustainability and luxury. Architect Robert Kolenik thought of every detail of the project and bore in mind all needs that arise from sustainability.

The 19-floors four-stars hotel opened in January 2013. The roof terrace and the restaurant on the top floor allow a breathtaking 360 degrees view of Amsterdam. The hotel has already become a symbol of sustainable urban development.

Among the sustainable materials used, Kolonik implemented an exclusive and innovate biodegradable material: the Eco Board, which he obtained by recliclying agricultural waste. He used straw and vegetable waste to build the sofas’ frames, all duvets are made of feathers of organic fowl and pillows are stuffed with a special and completely natural soy-based foam. Elevators are made of reclycled aluminum, decorated with silver bubbles.
