Dressing Light by Anke Loh

starter_bodyelectricAnke Loh’s work has had international appeal since studying at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, Belgium in 1999.

She had been following the Fraunhofer Institute for Reliability and Microintegration’s research to research and explore the possibilities of stretchable circuitry. She started by adding heat and light sensitive pigments into her clothes that would interact with sun and heat. Later, Loh incorporated fiber optics into LED-enabled fabric to display full-color moving images on the clothing inALoh Luminex Dress her collection.

She collaborated with Luminex (Italy and Miami) to develop optical fiber garments. She broke new ground by integrating Philips Lumalive panels into dresses and skirts which featured video imagery on soft embedded LED screens.
