Eco-culture in Amsterdam: MVRDV and the alphabet building

MVRDV-Alphabet-Building

The series Eco-culture in Amsterdam continues.. MVRDV was founded in 1993 by Winy Maas, Jacob van Rijs and Nathalie de Vries. Example of their incredible work is the 3,200 sq meter cubic building with a special design: the windows on the north facade are shaped like letters of the alphabet. Creative companies can lease office space in blocks, taking only 1 letter or a series of letters. MVRDV is designing a number of sustainable technologies into the project to ensure the building has an excellent energy profile.  As it was impossible to fit the entire alphabet on the façade, the letters I and Q are missing: the IQ is inside the building!
