Prins Bernhard Cultuur Fonds – Mode Stipendium

Andaz Prinsengracht Amsterdam

17th December, 2013 marks a very important day in Dutch fashion scene, as Jan Taminiau was awarded the winner of the €50.000 Fashion funding grant to invest into his company.  This is a grant from the Prince Bernhard Culture Funds in association with Dutch Fashion Foundation and one of the highest amounts of Euro since 2011. This event was presented at the Andaz Hotel Prinsengracht, Amsterdam.  An environment filled with tasteful design, delicious bars, and is truely a place where everyone “arrives as guests and leaves as a local” such as Toni Hinterstoisser, the Andaz Hotel manager expresses in his welcome speech. Even as a sort of… local foreigner, I walked out of elegant visuals feeling even more like a Dutch National from the hospitality of the environment. Today’s event marked another addition to the hotel’s “String of Pearl” events, and was presented to an inspiring group of Art, fashion and business experts that came together to celebrate excellence with ethereal praises.  A colorful array of breakfast treats nurtured our half-past-nine beginning, as we gathered to watch Jan Taminiau wake up to his lovely dream and collect the ultimate Christmas bonus… big money, fabulous accessories, champagne toasts, respect and reward.

We began the event with beautiful Angelique Westerhof, director of the Dutch Fashion Foundation, who spoke of the culture, economy, passion and quality as being key characteristics of the candidates who have been nomincated for this award.

The winners of last years’ scholarship “Spijkers en Spijkers”, a lovely twin designer duo rocked their fabulous fashion and accessories, as they passed on their advice and a few small sculptures. A large scaled poodle chain and carnation ring designed by Atelier Ted Noten accessorized this year’s big money grant, and was passed on to this years much deserved winner. The adorably powerful poodle chain, labeled hard work, talent, responsibility and destiny, as it passed on the secret message only the beholder should read. Next year, Jan will get to keep the ring, but he must pass on the prodigious poodle pendant, to the next admirable winner.

As for now, what shall be in the future for Jan Taminiau?

I can guarantee hard thinking, hard work, and keeping up that spirit of passion and appreciation, many salutations along with of course working on his every day wear.  I personally would love to have another interview with Jan to get a little more in-depth understanding of his encouraging journey, and look forward to watching and cheering from the sidelines at more shows to come.

Felicitatie met uw toekenning Jan Taminiau en kijken ernaar uit om met u te spreken!
