Luis Buchinho is probably one of the most original Portuguese fashion designers.
Born in Setubal in 1969, he moved to Porto in 1986 to attend CITEX, a prestigious fashion school in Portugal. In 1989 Luis Buchinho starts his collaboration with the company JOTEX, a prestigious knitwear company. In the market for over 20 years, he’s a constant presence in Paris Fashion Week, ModaLisboa and Portugal Fashion. The brand’s path is characterized by the creative evolution of the designer who in 2007 opened his first store in Porto. The connection kept with JOTEX for 20 years is notorious in his knitwear design distinctive of he’s own brand. Complex structures and a unique artisanal look, graphical details, organic feminine silhouettes between constructivist classicism and aesthetic deconstruction define a cosmopolitan, charismatic, young look, a genuine reinvention of the contemporary clothing templates. The international fashion designer Luis Buchinho, born in 1969 in Setubal, was this week awarded with the prize of “Best Fashion Designer of the Year” at the Fashion Awards Portugal 2010, a ceremony that took place in Lisbon.
