HUIQING is based in SHENZHEN, China. She studied at Winchester School of Art and graduated in 2010. In 2013, Lin launched label ALIAS.
The brand philosophy is simple, to make well-made and special clothes that make people feel different and comfortable.
The AW14 collection is inspired by British photographer Jackie Nickerson’s work – FARM. Nickerson makes photographs that examine identity. It concentrated on how individual identity is made through improvisation. The workers wearing clothes in different styles with their own certain elegances. It is a complete contrast to the glories of tribal culture, yet surprisingly elegant and stylish.
Designer Huiqing Lin loves the visual impact when she sees each individual’s personal style reflected in the way they dress. And she always thinks an ALIAS woman should dress in contradictions – youthful and sophisticated, masculine and feminine, bold and muted colors. By combining a fashion brand’s aesthetic with a photojournalist’s unflinching realism, for FW collection 2014, ALIAS transforms the raw material of ordinary everyday life into something out of the ordinary.
