They’re all going nautical this Summer, after NARS venture into the caribbean blue, Dior goes for cruise chic realness with Transatlantique, with eyes, face, lips and nails sporting embossed nautical themes, all of the colour collections images are very retro with early sixties feel to it with an unashamed usage of blue eyeshadow and nautical blue liner.
Amongst the limited edition items, there is a gold highlighter (that sort of takes us back to their holiday collection) and two blush/bronzers in pink and amber.
We adore Dior eyeshadows, they’re incredibly creamy and blend able and we would love that their formula would have matte finishes, but alas we don’t love blue eye colouring, feeling it rather dated. The gold highlighter with its own mini kabuki is nice but more suited for makeup collectors because it doesn’t strike us as incredibly unique. Also they’re adding a self tanner and a liquid bronzer to fake that bake it look.
Lips are unapologetically red or coral, yes with a new shade here and there, but the look begs for red and honestly reminds us of a nautical themed Summer colour from MAC from a couple of years back, we love red lipstick and any seasonal excuse to buy one!
If you’re a bronzer afficionado or a blue makeup junkie then Transatlantique will probably rock your boat, we actually love the “Sailor” blue nail polish and very rarely do we like cool colours on nails, so this should say something.
