The Nicolas Ghesquiere’s first collection for the French Fashion House was bowed in March during Louis Vuitton Cruise show.
According to WWD, Vuitton said Ghesquière would bring “a modern, creative vision to the house’s women’s collections, building on the values of refinement, savoir faire and extreme quality.
“Louis Vuitton has always incarnated for me the symbol of ultimate luxury, innovation and exploration,” Ghesquière said Monday. “I am very honored of the mission that I am entrusted with, and proud to join the history of this great maison. We share common values and a vision.”
Ghesquière’s first Vuitton bags were highly commercial. A cute miniature version of an old-fashioned suitcase, referring to Vuitton’s heritage as a luggage label, was the key style for the season, appearing multiple times on the catwalk. There are two types of le petite-malle: one is a classic monogrammed style while the others have removable covers which reveal hard-case trunks in colourways such as silver with gold hardware and red with black trimmings. The straps are also removable so you’re left with the boxiest of clutch bags.
The collection is composed by 25 bags of the Autumn/Fall 2014.15 collection.
