Can We Stop Using the Phrase Boyfriend Jeans? They Obviously Look Way Better on Us

Today is Wednesday — which means that it’s practically the weekend, right? The latter part of the workweek may often seem epically long, but we have just the thing to get you over the hump: boyfriend jeans. Those two simple words just have you dreaming of the weekend, don’t they? Though they’re perhaps one of the newest members of the group, I’m going to go out on a limb and call boyfriend jeans a mainstay. A classic wardrobe staple that leaves you wanting not one, not two, but the beginning of a full-on collection.

Boyfriend jeans are like the absolute best kind of boyfriend: easygoing and totally reliable, and they only get better with age. Brunch with friends? Throw on a perfect white T-shirt and flats and you’re good to go. Night out on the town? Trade your flats and T-shirt for heels and a camisole and you’re set for the evening. Lucky enough to have an office dress code that allows this denim trend? Slip into some classic heels and toss a button-down and blazer on top and you’re ready for the week. Sure, the trend may have originated from borrowing our boyfriends’ jeans, but I think we look way better in them, don’t you?

If I can impart one piece of advice to everyone about boyfriend jeans, it would be not to force it. You have to love these jeans more than you’ve ever loved any jeans in your life. Make sure to find a pair that hangs on your hips just so and slouches with such perfection they make you want to sleep in them. They will be with you for a while (hey, they may even last through a few boyfriends!). All of this is not to say you have to be monogamous with your boyfriend jeans— I give you permission to fall in love with dozens!
