Have a Peplum Top? Here Are 5 Ways You Can Wear It to Work This Week

It’s easy to fall into a trap of wearing a certain piece the same way over and over again—and while there’s nothing wrong with that, it certainly limits the amount of outfits you can put together. Just in time for the workweek, here are five ways to wear a peplum top to challenge any status quo. The peplum, flirty and feminine, deserves so much more than a single combo, don’t you think?

#1. With a pencil skirt

The tailored figure-flattering pencil skirt is a common mate for the flared top, and if you haven’t tried it yet, it’s definitely time. The slim bottom doesn’t have any volume, instead taking all it needs from its mate up top.

#2. With an LBD

Grab the slinky, party-ready black dress from the back of your closet and try it on underneath your favorite blouse. If the dress is slim and the peplum just boxy enough, the layered look will give the appearance of a skirt-and-top set, when in reality it’s just giving a piece in your wardrobe another opportunity to work.

#3. With wide-leg pants

For a bold silhouette, consider adding even more volume with wide-leg trousers. Take inspiration from this jumpsuit and imagine how good it would look to have a peplum, tight at the natural waist, worn over a pair of strong pants.

#4. With cropped black skinnies

If you’ve been pairing your peplum with office-appropriate trousers, consider switching it up just a little. A hemline that hits right above the ankle bone is the most flattering and, while not drastically different, switches things up just enough.

#5. With a long-sleeve top underneath

Switch your thoughts from a new bottom choice to how you might make the peplum itself appear different. If the style in your closet is a tank (or strapless), try it on atop a filmy long-sleeve tee or a thin sweater.
