For the Fall/Winter 2017/18 season, the AIGNER Creative Director Christian Alexander Beck recollects the AIGNER DNA, but also picks up on current ideas. The collection is defined by influences from the past such as classic shapes and cuts, traditional craftsmanship and natural materials, which are combined with modern aspects incorporating new materials, textures and surfaces, and extraordinary techniques. A type of nostalgia can be found with a contemporary touch and a new sense of modernity. Classic pieces were thus created using modern, innovative and processing methods or new materials were reset in a modern way, as well as futuristic shapes and sizes combined with traditional elements and craftsmanship. Overall, this has resulted in a collection that is timeless yet also modern and contemporary.
The Fall/Winter season is dominated by subtle colours with a range of characteristics, whereby the collection is defined by two colour schemes: natural tones such as Taupe, Cashmere Beige, Alabaster Rose and Brick Red, along with dark tones such as Olive, Deep Blue and Concrete Grey with a dark Grape Violet as an accent colour. However, the predominant colour remains black.
The mood of the collection is dark and intense while also being chic and stylish. The theme “Dark Night” serves as inspiration, which was particularly implemented with colour accents and special materials. Highlights are models in metallic such as a shimmery sequin print on suede or metallic leather with lasered artwork.
Highlights of the Fall/Winter 2017/18 collection
“Cybill”
The signature bag is the classic from AIGNER – with “Reset”, it is now also available in a new size. The luxury bag in a smaller format as a crossbody model is not only a consistent continuation but also a perfect complement to the line.
Like every season, there is once again one special model with “Cybill Reset”. The bag picks up on all of the themes of the collection in terms of its look. The street art-inspired, photo-realistic print with seasonal motifs such as neon tubes, star-shaped patches, prominent stitching and a large piercing ring at the side to attach tags shows the rough side of the collection.
“Diadora”
Tradition meets Zeitgeist: this crossbody bag shows the AIGNER standard in solid craftsmanship and modern design. Catching on to the trend of bags with multiple compartments, the bi-colour model with the A-logo in a retro-look as closure makes it an absolute highlight. Both new special models reflect the idea behind the line: the classic shape looks very modern thanks to new processing techniques, such as 3D-look top-stitching of the A-logo, the multicolour horse pattern as well as an innovative profound embossment.
“Lara”
The new model is the frame bag 2.0 – the AIGNER-typical, leather-covered metal frame is combined with the season’s ‘it’ bag: the camera bag. The prominent suspended chain as a strap bridges the gap between sporty and glamorous and the special look with a colourful, graphic comic artwork with seasonal motifs in innovative, seamless embossing shows of another trend theme.
“Lexi”
The clean, linear shape makes the new model the spatial wonder of the collection. Available in three sizes, the “Lexi” series impresses above all with this highlight: every version has simple, shiny golden metal handles in addition to the shoulder strap. The high-quality and robust top grain leather in muted seasonal colours emphasises the heritage look of the bags.
“Amalia”
The “Amalia” is a new classic from AIGNER: the wrap bag, Made in Italy, from soft leather with straps at the opening and unusual gusset workmanship can be worn elegantly closed, open in a casual, modern way, or inside out. A special version with an all over padded horse-head artwork is the absolute highlight of the line.
“Lea”
The Lea shoulder bag is a new luxury model. The zips present at the side can be opened and give the bag its cool and modern trapezoid shape. However, when the zip is closed, the bag is reminiscent of the elegant Cybill bag. Other details are the detachable chains at the zips, the buttons on the handle attachment, and the two-tone military look: this means the body comes in seasonal colours, while the gusset is always in black. It is available as a shoulder bag in two sizes as well as a crossbody bag.
“Vittoria”
This model reinterprets the classic saddlebag in a new way. As a shoulder bag or crossbody bag in two sizes, it impresses with its clear design with a rounded shape. The golden elements on the shoulder strap are modern eye-catching.
At the same time, AIGNER lines that are already well-known and popular are also staged in a new way in this collection using special highlights. “Genoveva” is thus expanded with a new version and appears as a special model made from leather with a sequin print, just as “Pina” gains a new shoulder bag model plus a crossbody version as a special made completely from velvet.
The additional and exchangeable straps and tags for the bags remain a theme. They pick up on the basic themes in their designs and add modern highlights to rather clean, minimalist or classic models. The shoulder strap is available in different versions to match each bag model and the bag tags come as a sun, moon and star.
