  1. What made you become a feminist?

I hated the word ‘feminist’, and I couldn’t identify myself with this, so I started reading and writing about it. I saw the difference between the word and its context in the different periodes of time. And eventually I started the online platform theTitty Mag. Where I could launch ideas, articles and art made and for people who believe in equality. Not only between men and women but between people all over the world. It’s an online place that must inspire and activate people to see the differences between people as something good instead of something bad. And I think that’s exactly the thing, that you can also have differences in the way you see yourself as a feminist!

  1. What are your thoughts on men?

I love men! Really! Nothing bad about them. We must not judge people by their gender, but in what way they look at people and the world around them. You must have an open view at the world and never discriminate people because of what they are!

  1. Tell us a bit more about your background.

I grew up in a place near The Hague and studies Art History and Film and Photographic studies. I love art, old art house film &photography and I’m inspired by the people around us. So I wanted to tell stories pf people who weren’t able to do it themselves, that’s way I started to work in the media. I worked as a radio host, but also as a director in different TV- shows.

  1. What do you do on a daily basis?

I’m the founder of the online platform and host of the podcast TheTittyMag. I work as a creative and I’m the editor in chief online for BNNVARA

  1. What made you come up with the idea to create Tittymag?

Because I wanted to write and publish more about feminism. I wanted to inspire and show people that you shouldn’t be afraid of calling yourself a feminist. I’m proud enough to show and tell the people that I am a feminist. In my on way! Because every feminist is different. Just like every person!

  1. How do you decide what to publish?

I publish what inspires me or the people around me! I have a creative group of Titty friends, that write poems, column or take photographs for weekly online issue of the online newsletter of TheTittyMag. We decide together what will be the story we want to tell that week.

7. Do you have an idol?

Yes a lot, hmm but I let myself inspire by my mother, my dear friends, but also by artists as Frida Kahlo, Refinery 29 boss Piera Gelardi and Simone de Beauvoir!

8. What is your favourite quote?

A quote by Gloria Steinem: A feminist is anyone who recognizes the equality and full humanity of women and men.”

9. Do you think feminism is becoming more and more popular?

Yes and that isn’t a bad thing. Off course you can agree or disagree, but eventually it all leads more attention to the discussion on the equality of women rights!

10. How do you see the future of your website?

I would love to see the TittyMag as a big brand that will stimulate girls and boys in different inspiring ways. I would love to publish articles, podcasts, photo- series. But I would also love to organise at the end of this year a big live event. And eventually I would like to turn the website into a more broadly brand, that will help to encourage people to see feminism as a daily priority.
