The brain behind the designs, John Fluevog, makes ” unique soles for unique souls ”. Although Fluevog is not for everyone, the brand has big fans like Lady Gaga, Beyoncé and John Legend.
More than 45 years of Fluevog
John began designing shoes in the 1970s. His first design was The Pilgrim, a t-strap shoe based on Victorian times. This unique style was already at odds with fashion trends back then. Since then, John has always launched groundbreaking designs of which the Munster is one of the best-known shoes of the brand. Madonna wore this special shoe in the movie Truth or Dare, and premiered on the red carpet during her Dick Tracy. John Fluevog not only designs for women, he also markets men’s shoes. Rocker Alice Cooper and John Legend have also been spotted in these unique shoes.
After having been in the business for more than 45 years, John is far from ready to design ‘unique soles for unique souls”. In fact, he is determined to also conquer Europe. After all, life is too short to wear boring shoes, right?
Meet John Fluevog
On Thursday 31 May, John Fluevog will come to Amsterdam to celebrate that his first store in Europe has been opened. From 17:00 – 20:00 you can meet John in the former church that has now become a special Fluevog store. John Fluevog is an independent designer and retailer of forward-thinking footwear and accessories. Since 1970, he has been steadfast in creating unique soles for unique souls that have been seen everywhere from the feet of Madonna, Beyoncé, Lady Gaga and Jack White to the runways of high fashion. In 2012, John was recognized by The Two/Ten Foundation of Canada as The Canadian Footwear Industry’s Shoe Person of the Year and John Fluevog Shoes was recently named one of the world’s most innovative companies in the fashion industry by creative business experts FastCompany. When you wear a pair of Fluevogs, you’re wearing decades of traditionally made, untraditional design.
