WARDEMENTS X ORANGE BABIES launched an exclusive collection at concept store X BANK in Amsterdam. During the well-attended event, the very first copy was handed over to fashion journalist Fiona Hering by Ward Stegerhoek. Among the guests were familiar faces such as Henk Schiffmacher, Suzanne Klemann, Karin Swerink and Koen Kardashian. The limited edition collection – consisting of a hoodie and T-shirt – is printed with processed images of photographer Mariska van den Brink. The striking cries on clothing demand attention for HIV and AIDS control in Africa. Both the hoodie and the T-shirt are from today exclusively available at concept store X BANK for € 249 and € 135, the entire proceeds of the collection goes to Orange Babies against the fight against HIV and AIDS in Africa.
Ward Stegerhoek, renowned Dutch hairstylist and fashion designer, and Orange Babies have been working together since the foundation of the charity. He coaxed many models during the very first fashion shows of Orange Babies. Stegerhoek has now been appointed as the newest ambassador.
Stegerhoek took his orange heart to the United States where he founded his own streetstyle label in 2017: WARDEMENTS. For his Fall / Winter 2018 collection he designed a hoodie and T-shirt especially for Orange Babies. The collection was launched earlier this year in New York, in collaboration with the American V Magazine and hosted by the iconic photographer duo Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin. Yesterday it was Amsterdam’s turn to present this collaboration in a big way.
Stegerhoek says about the collaboration with Orange Babies: “I am happy that I can share both my creativity and the yield of the collection with Orange Babies because it is my natural instinct to help babies. Since the foundation of Orange Babies I have been involved in the organization and I have embraced their mission; the pursuit of a world in which children are no longer born with HIV and where victims of HIV get equal opportunities. ”
With the WARDEMENTS X ORANGE BABIES collaboration Orange Babies stays close to its origin. Right from the start in 1999, the Dutch fashion and design world closed Orange Babies. The initiative of founders Baba Sylla, John Kattenberg and Stef Bakker quickly attracted major designers who associated their name with Orange Babies’ mission: to protect mothers and children in the South of Africa from the effects of HIV. Orange Babies now has a large network of supporters and various ambassadors such as Ward Stegerhoek, Caroline Tensen, Jeroen van Koningsbrugge and Fiona Hering.
Also top models like Cindy Crawford, her daughter Kaia Gerber, Tasha Tilberg, Doutzen Kroes, Gigi Hadid, Romee Strijd and Anja Rubik have shown their support for Orange Babies on social media and have already been spotted in the jersey.
The limited edition collection WARDEMENTS X ORANGE BABIES is from October 12 exclusively for sale at X BANK in Amsterdam, Spuistraat 172. The price of the hoodie is € 249 and the T-shirt € 135, of which the entire proceeds to Orange Babies against the combating HIV and AIDS.
