Amsterdam-born fashion designer Melissa Siegrist started her studies in architecture at the Hochschool voor de Kunsten of Utrecht. In 2010 she graduated from ArtEZ with a clean womenswear collection by the masculine flare. From then on she turned her attention to menswear and on Monday July 15th, her fifth time at Amsterdam Fashion Week, she showed her S/S 14 collection “For the Team ’12”.
Inspired by 1950es American baseball and classic American work-wear, the collection includes garments like baseball jackets, t-shirts and shirts, slim trousers with rolled hems and exposed ankles or knee shorts. Easy pieces for men who want to feel comfortable. A minimalist style which adopts sportswear cuts and details, like round splits on shorts and farm sleeves on t-shirts. The colour palette ranges from faded to intense red, off-white, washed blue, beige and black and the fabrics are 50es inspired too: monochrome or vertically striped linen and cotton.
